Protecting CHW, LTHW, and MTHW Closed Loop Systems

A well-planned water treatment strategy is essential for effectively managing corrosion, scale, and biological contamination in HVAC building services. However, suspended particles in closed-loop water systems can compromise the effectiveness of water treatment chemicals, accelerating corrosion and fostering biological growth. The interconnected nature of scale, corrosion, biofilm, and suspended solids presents ongoing operational challenges. Integrated sidestream filtration systems continuously remove these contaminants.

Sidestream Filtration:

Sidestream filtration is a proactive technique used to maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of HVAC systems in buildings. It works by diverting a portion (10 to 20%) of the main flow through a filtration system, treating it separately, and then reintroducing the purified fluid back into the main flow. This method allows for continuous purification without interrupting the primary operations.

Effectiveness: Sidestream filters are effective in both new installations and in revitalizing old, highly corroded, and contaminated systems that initially lacked filtration.

Benefits:

  • Cleaner System Fluids: Optimizes heat transfer, resulting in superior performance, lower energy consumption, and reduced operational costs.
  • Enhanced System Longevity: Reduces maintenance costs and ensures uninterrupted operation.
  • Minimized Downtime and Maintenance: Emphasizes prevention rather than cure.
